Ten teams have confirmed their places at the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027, with two-time champions West Indies set to go through the qualification route for the third consecutive edition.
Afghanistan became the latest team to secure direct qualification following their thrilling win over Ireland in Belfast. They join Pakistan, India, England, Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, while South Africa and Zimbabwe have qualified as hosts.
The top eight teams in the ICC ODI rankings on September 30, excluding hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe, will earn automatic qualification for the tournament.

West Indies, currently ranked 10th, have two ODIs against India before the September 30 cutoff. However, even wins in both matches will not be enough to bring them back into contention for direct qualification.
They will instead join Ireland in the World Cup Qualifier, scheduled for February next year.
West Indies also went through the qualification route for the 2023 World Cup but finished fifth in the Super Six stage and failed to reach the main tournament for the first time in their history. Their absence also ruled them out of the 2025 Champions Trophy, a competition they have not featured in since 2013.
The World Cup Qualifier will feature West Indies and Ireland alongside the top four teams from Cricket World Cup League 2 and four teams advancing from the World Cup Qualifier Playoff.
The winner of the Qualifier will earn direct entry into the second round of the 2027 World Cup, while the teams finishing second, third and fourth will compete in the Super Series. The winner of that three-team competition will also progress to the second round.
The Qualifier Playoff will feature the bottom four teams from Cricket World Cup League 2 and four teams from the Challenge League. The top four will advance to the World Cup Qualifier.
The Challenge League features 12 teams divided into two groups of six, with the top two sides from each group progressing to the Qualifier Playoff.
The host of the World Cup Qualifier is yet to be decided.
