Punjab Announces Mega Sports Events in Schools

The Punjab government has decided to organize mega sports events across all schools in the province from October to December, as part of a broader plan to promote sports and identify talented students.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat approved the plan during a meeting of the Education Department held to review the province’s sports action plan.
Officials briefed the minister that sports committees have now been established in all 35,000 schools across Punjab. The department has also provided sports equipment to 450 schools to support sporting activities.
Under the plan, public schools will compete in different sports at the tehsil, district, division and provincial levels. The government will award Rs. 500,000, Rs. 300,000 and Rs. 100,000 as prize money at the respective competition levels.
Rana Sikandar Hayat directed officials to allocate separate prize money for male and female students participating in the competitions.
The education minister also directed the department to identify students who demonstrate exceptional sporting talent and provide them with full support. He said the government would help talented students access international level opportunities and support them in pursuing their sporting careers.
