Pakistan Qualifies for U17 Volleyball World Championship Knockouts
Pakistan qualified for the Round of 16 of the FIVB U17 World Championship 2026 after securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Algeria in its final Pool E match in Doha, Qatar.
Pakistan completely outclassed Algeria in the high-stakes fixture, winning all three sets by identical scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-17.
Pakistan also dominated the statistical battle, recording 37 attack points compared with Chinese Taipei’s 27. It also led in blocks 11-8 and service points 4-2. Pakistan forced 23 opponent errors, compared with 15 by Algeria.
Fahad Ali led Pakistan’s scoring effort with 20 points, including 16 attack points, while captain Muhammad Irfan contributed five points with five attacks, comprising seven attack points and one block point.
The victory over Algeria marked Pakistan’s second win at the FIVB U17 World Championship 2026 after it defeated Chinese Taipei in its campaign opener.
Pakistan won that match 25-20, 25-10 and 25-23 to begin the tournament on a winning note.
Fahad led Pakistan’s scoring effort against Chinese Taipei with 13 points, all coming from attacks, while captain Irfan contributed 11 points with five attacks, three blocks and three service points.
Pakistan also dominated the statistics in that match, recording 36 attack points compared with Chinese Taipei’s 29. It led in blocks 8-7 and service points 6-0, while forcing 18 opponent errors compared with 14 by Chinese Taipei.
Following its winning start, Pakistan faced Iran in its second pool match and suffered a 3-0 defeat.
Pakistan, however, staged a strong comeback by winning its final Preliminary Phase match against Algeria and advancing to the pre-quarterfinals.
Pakistan will face Egypt on Tuesday, August 25, at the same venue, with a victory taking it into the quarterfinals.
The tournament marks Pakistan’s first appearance at a world volleyball championship at any level.
