HEC Announces Fully Funded DAAD Scholarships 2026

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has announced that applications are open for fully funded DAAD PhD Scholarship Programs 2026 for students and researchers who want to pursue doctoral studies or specialised research in Germany.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is offering the scholarships with funding from the German Federal Foreign Office. Interested candidates can apply until August 31, 2026.

The Full PhD Program in Germany supports candidates who want to complete their doctoral degree at a German university or research institution.

The Short-Term Research Grants are aimed at doctoral students who want to carry out part of their research in Germany. The research stay can last from two to 12 months.

The Bi-Nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees/Cotutelle program supports PhD candidates whose doctoral work involves academic supervision in both Germany and their home country.

What Does the DAAD Scholarship Cover?

DAAD provides financial support to selected scholars during their studies or research stay in Germany.

Depending on the scholarship program, the funding may include a monthly stipend, health and accident insurance, travel support, and research allowances.

Some candidates may also qualify for additional benefits, including rent support, family allowances, and German language courses, subject to DAAD rules.

Who Can Apply?

The scholarships mainly target graduates and researchers who have completed an MS/MPhil, Master’s degree, or an equivalent qualification and want to pursue doctoral studies or research in Germany. The exact eligibility criteria vary by program.

Applicants should carefully check the academic requirements, research conditions, language requirements, and degree-completion limits for the scholarship track they choose.

How to Apply for DAAD PhD Scholarships

Candidates must submit their applications through the official DAAD scholarship portal for the relevant program.

Applicants may need to provide their academic degrees and transcripts, CV, motivation letter, research proposal, recommendation letter, proof of language proficiency, and documents related to their proposed research supervisor or host institution.
