U.S. Opens YES Program Applications for Pakistani Students for Spring 2027

The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan has opened applications for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, offering Pakistani high school students an opportunity to spend the spring 2027 semester in the United States on a fully funded exchange program.

The program will begin in January 2027 and allow selected students to live with American host families, attend U.S. high schools and participate in activities focused on leadership, culture, governance, business and innovation.

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to Pakistani students who meet specific age, academic and educational requirements.

Applicants must:

  • Be 15 to 17 years old on January 1, 2027.
  • Be born between January 1, 2010, and January 1, 2012.
  • Be enrolled in 8th, 9th or 10th grade, or O Levels in Pakistan when applying.
  • Have at least 60% in each of the past three academic years.
  • Have at least 60% in major subjects, including English, Mathematics and Sciences.
  • Have no failing grades during the past three academic years.
  • Be able to communicate in English.
  • Be Pakistani citizens residing in Pakistan.

O Level students in 9th or 10th grade can apply, while O Level 11th graders are not eligible.

Students with a gap year or repeated academic year cannot apply. Applicants who have already completed or graduated from secondary school before the program begins are also ineligible.

Important Restrictions

Applicants must meet the program’s J-1 visa requirements and must not have previously traveled to the United States.

Dual nationals are not eligible, and siblings or children of YES alumni cannot participate. Children and siblings of Society for International Education and iEARN Pakistan project staff are also excluded.

How to Apply

Students can begin the application process through yesprogram.pk by checking their eligibility and selecting the “Apply Now” option.

The application must be completed electronically before being printed, signed by hand and submitted with the required documents. Applications must be sent only by post or courier.

Applicants must include school-attested photocopies of their final mark sheets for the 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years, along with a photocopy of one valid document such as a NADRA B-Form, Smart Card, FRC or birth certificate.

Application Deadline

The last date to submit applications is September 15, 2026.

Incomplete, unsigned or incorrectly submitted applications may not be considered. The YES Program uses a rigorous, merit-based selection process to select participants.

The program was established by the U.S. Congress in October 2002 and aims to build long-term connections between young people in the United States and participating countries through educational and cultural exchange.
