Punjab Launches Grand Operation Against Environmental Violations
Punjab has decided to launch a grand operation to tighten monitoring of environmental violations across the province.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, where officials said strict implementation of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Clean Lahore, Healthy Punjab” programme is continuing.
The briefing said action has already been taken against several violations. Authorities issued notices to 18 units and sealed four units for environmental offences.
They also sealed six sites over construction-related violations and took action against polythene use by sealing 36 locations.
In addition, 10 smoke-emitting vehicles were impounded, while 24 challans were issued and 24 vehicles were sealed.
The meeting also decided to expand the operation across the province in view of the crop-harvesting season and further strengthen monitoring of environmental violations.
