The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education DG Khan has emerged as the best-performing education board in Punjab in the Secondary School Certificate First Annual Examination 2026.
According to the official result gazettes of all nine Punjab boards, BISE D.G. Khan secured the highest overall pass percentage at 77.86 percent.
A total of 97,444 candidates registered for the examination under the D.G. Khan Board. Of these, 96,482 appeared, while 75,124 successfully passed.
Based on the number of candidates who appeared, 21,358 students failed to clear all the required subjects. The remaining 962 registered candidates were absent or were not included in the final appeared count.

D.G. Khan remained ahead of Faisalabad, which secured the second position with a pass percentage of 74.69 percent. Multan stood third with a pass rate of 72.65 percent.
The difference between D.G. Khan and Rawalpindi, the lowest-performing board, stood at 16.55 percentage points.
Across Punjab, a total of 1,348,352 candidates appeared in the Matric examinations. Of these, 926,569 passed, taking the combined provincial pass percentage to 68.72 percent.
The D.G. Khan Board’s result was therefore 9.14 percentage points higher than the overall Punjab average.
Although the board may popularly be described as the “most intelligent” based on its pass percentage, the ranking represents examination performance rather than the individual intelligence of students. Results can also be influenced by candidate composition, school performance, academic preparation, and other educational factors.
