Pakistan Hosts Best of ASCO 2026, Bringing the Latest Global Cancer Advances to Local Practice

The Society of Medical Oncology–Pakistan (SMO-P) hosted the officially licensed Best of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2026 Annual Meeting from August 28–30, 2026, at Lahore, bringing together leading national and international oncology experts to discuss the latest advances in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The conference was designed with an objective to bridge the gap between rapidly evolving global cancer science and its application in Pakistan. Pakistan faces significant challenges in cancer care, including inequitable access to specialists and innovative therapies. Bringing international experts and the latest evidence directly to Pakistani healthcare professionals provided an opportunity to strengthen education while discussing how these advances can realistically be translated into local practice.

The meeting also addressed issues like equitable access to innovative cancer medicines, challenges in introducing new therapies, multidisciplinary cancer care, immunization in cancer patients, and translating advances in clinical research into everyday oncology practice. It also provided opportunities to Pakistani oncologists and other cancer-care professionals to critically evaluate practice-changing evidence and understand its implications for their patients.

The conference also includes dedicated opportunities for interaction between experts and younger oncologists, including Meet the Experts, panel discussions, educational initiatives and the RECON ONCO-thon, reflecting SMO-P’s commitment to developing the next generation of oncology professionals.
