The Pakistan Airports Authority has formally approved minimum wages for outsourced employees, according to ARY News.
The authority has fixed the minimum pay for outsourced staff at Rs40,700, with the new wage structure applicable from July 1 after the federal government’s wage increase of Rs3,700.
PAA has directed outsourced contractors to ensure the revised salary is paid to all concerned employees.
All outsourced workers, including security personnel, will now receive a monthly salary of Rs40,700.
The new wage will be mandatory for all existing and extended outsourcing agreements.
Contractors have also been instructed to ensure EOBI and social security payments are made for the employees.
Separately, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Pakistan Airports Authority are set to be shifted from Karachi to Islamabad.
Their headquarters will move from Karachi Airport to Islamabad Airport, while a temporary headquarters will be set up at Islamabad Airport for the immediate transfer process.
A seven-member committee, comprising officials from the PAA and CAA, has been formed to oversee the move.
Deputy Director General of the Airports Authority Sadiq Rehman has been appointed as the head of the joint committee, which will finalise the location for the temporary headquarters.
The CAA has been directed to shift to the temporary headquarters by November, while the PAA has been told to complete its transfer by December.
Both organisations currently have their headquarters in Karachi, while their regional offices will continue to function normally across the country.
