Lahore Traffic Police Launch Major Crackdown Ahead of Independence Day

Lahore traffic police have intensified enforcement against wheelie riding, reckless driving, underage driving, excessive noise and other road violations ahead of Independence Day celebrations.

Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi directed all circle officers to conduct sustained operations against wheelie riders and underage drivers, particularly on major and busy roads.

The traffic police will also take action against motorcycle mechanics who modify bikes to facilitate dangerous riding. Officers will target mechanics who remove silencers, alter exhaust systems or make other changes specifically for wheelie riding.

The police will take legal action against people who ride motorcycles without silencers, remove exhaust baffles or create excessive noise and public nuisance during Independence Day celebrations.

Traffic officials will conduct awareness campaigns at motorcycle markets across Lahore and inform mechanics about the legal consequences of making illegal modifications.

The traffic police will also seek assistance from Lahore Police to monitor previously identified and repeat wheelie offenders through door-to-door verification. Authorities will monitor social media accounts that promote or glorify wheelie riding and road hooliganism and take action under the law.

Traffic police will conduct daily enforcement operations at major roads and vulnerable locations to identify reckless riders and other violators. Shirazi also urged parents to prevent their children from engaging in dangerous riding practices, warning that wheelie riding can cause serious injuries or death.
