The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has directed all institutions affiliated with it to strictly enforce a complete ban on the use of CNG and LPG in vehicles used for student transportation.
In a notification dated August 6, 2026, BSEK Secretary Dr. Naveed Ahmed instructed heads of affiliated institutions to ensure that operators providing student pick and drop services comply with the ban.
The board warned that authorities will not allow vehicles that violate the directives to operate as school transportation. Such vehicles will also face fines and impoundment.
BSEK directed institutions to immediately stop the illegal use of CNG and LPG in their transportation vehicles, including during vacation periods.
The board also instructed schools to conduct regular inspections and monitor student transport vehicles to ensure compliance with statutory provisions and judicial directives. In addition, educational institutions must launch awareness campaigns to inform parents, students and transporters about the dangers of using CNG and LPG and the Gujrat case precedent.
