NADRA Shares Easy Process to Change Address on CNIC

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has shared a simple procedure for Pakistani citizens who want to change their current or permanent residential address on their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).

In an informational video shared on its official social media platform, NADRA explained the documents required for changing an address and the step-by-step process citizens must follow at a NADRA Registration Centre.

According to the authority, applicants can update their residential address by providing acceptable proof of residence, completing biometric verification, and paying the applicable CNIC modification fee.

The process involves six steps, starting with obtaining a token and ending with the collection of an updated identity card.

Documents Required to Change Address on CNIC

NADRA has identified three types of supporting documents that citizens can use to change their current or permanent address.

Applicants can provide any one of the following documents, depending on their circumstances:

CNIC of a Blood Relative: The identity card of a blood relative showing the address the applicant wants to register.

Residential Property Documents: Documents showing that the residential property at the requested address is registered in the applicant’s name.

Utility Bill: An electricity, gas, or water bill issued in the applicant’s name and showing the requested address.

How to Change Current or Permanent Address on CNIC

NADRA has outlined a six-step procedure for citizens applying to change their residential address at a registration centre.

Step 1: Obtain a Token

Visit a nearby NADRA Registration Centre with your existing CNIC and the relevant address verification document.

Approach the reception counter and obtain a token for the CNIC modification service.

After receiving the token, wait until your number is called.

Step 2: Complete Biometric Verification

Once your turn arrives, proceed to the designated registration counter.

A NADRA representative will complete the required biometric verification to confirm your identity.

According to the authority, the process includes fingerprint verification, photograph capture, and iris verification.

Step 3: Update Your Address in NADRA’s Records

After biometric verification, the registration officer will enter your requested current or permanent address into NADRA’s system.

Applicants must carefully review the information displayed on the screen before proceeding.

They should ensure that the house number, street, area, city, and other relevant address details have been entered correctly.

Step 4: Obtain Approval From the Office In-Charge

After reviewing the application, applicants must approach the office in-charge for approval.

The responsible official will review the application and complete the required approval process.

Once approved, the application will move to the payment stage.

Step 5: Pay the CNIC Modification Fee

Applicants must pay the applicable CNIC modification fee according to their selected processing category.

NADRA’s video explains that citizens can use the QR code provided on their token to complete the payment.

Applicants should follow the payment instructions provided at the registration centre and retain their payment confirmation.

Step 6: Collect Your Updated CNIC

After completing the procedure, applicants will receive a receipt for their CNIC modification request.

Applicants can collect their updated identity cards from the same NADRA Registration Centre after the applicable processing period.

Citizens should keep their receipt safe until they collect their updated CNIC.

NADRA CNIC Address Change Fees

NADRA charges a modification fee for changing information printed on a CNIC, including a residential address.
