CDA Orders Sealing Of Another Housing Scheme Offices Over Unapproved Development

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has ordered the sealing of the marketing and site offices of Nilore Homes on Lehtrar Road after finding that the housing scheme was operating without the required approvals.

According to a CDA document, development work was started at the scheme without approval of its Layout Plan or obtaining a No Objection Certificate. The authority said the development, construction and use of land violated the CDA Ordinance 1960, ICT Zoning Regulations 1992 and applicable regulations for private housing schemes.

The CDA said the scheme’s sponsors had previously been served notices and show cause notices directing them to stop development, marketing, sale and purchase, plot allotments and transfers. They were also directed to remove or demolish illegal buildings and structures, but failed to obtain the required approvals.

The Directorate of Regional Planning has now directed the CDA Directorate of Enforcement to seal the scheme’s marketing and site offices.

Under the applicable regulations, the CDA can also seal offices of sponsors, advertisers, operators, consultants, contractors, real estate agents and marketing partners involved in promoting unapproved housing schemes.

The authority has also sought action for the demolition and removal of illegal structures. Relevant utility providers have been directed to issue electricity and gas connections only in accordance with approved layout and building plans.

The CDA has further asked relevant authorities to prevent advertisements and take action against websites promoting private housing projects launched without the authority’s approval.
