Young Pakistani Fast Bowler Breaks Australian Legend Career Record on Test Debut
Pakistan’s young pacer Razaullah has surpassed legendary Australian batter Don Bradman’s career tally of Test sixes after an explosive performance against England at Edgbaston.
The 21-year-old smashed nine sixes during a remarkable 81 off just 63 balls in Pakistan’s second innings of the third and final Test. In comparison, Bradman hit only six sixes across his entire 52-match Test career.
Batting at No. 9, Razaullah launched a stunning counterattack when Pakistan was under pressure, striking four fours and nine sixes. His innings helped Pakistan reach 449 and set England a target of 130 runs.
He also shared a crucial 121-run ninth-wicket partnership with Mohammad Abbas, who contributed 42, as Pakistan fought back after appearing to be heading toward another heavy defeat.
Razaullah’s nine sixes equaled Tim Southee’s record for the most by a player on Test debut. He also matched Ben Stokes’ record for the most sixes in a Test innings in England.
He reached his half-century in 43 balls, making it the fastest fifty by a Pakistani batter on Test debut.
The impressive batting display came after Razaullah had already made an impact with the ball, taking four wickets in England’s first innings, including the dismissal of captain Joe Root.
Bradman played 52 Tests for Australia from 1928 to 1948, scoring 6,996 runs at a remarkable career average of 99.94. Despite his dominance with the bat, he hit just six sixes during his entire Test career.
Razaullah has therefore gone past Bradman’s career sixes tally in his very first Test appearance.
