Sindh Records Higher Cotton Arrivals Than Punjab
Pakistan’s cotton arrivals at factories rose 25 percent year over year to 1.11 million bales as of August 15, 2026, with Sindh leading the increase, according to data compiled by Arif Habib Limited.
Cotton arrivals reached 1.114 million bales by August 15, compared with 887,000 bales during the same period last year. Sindh accounted for 734,000 bales, up 42 percent year over year, while Punjab arrivals increased 3 percent to 379,000 bales.
The increase comes as cotton sowing has reached 1.60 million hectares during the current fiscal year, representing 74.3 percent of the government’s target of 2.16 million hectares.
However, the government is targeting cotton production of 9.64 million bales for fiscal year 2026 to 27, significantly higher than the 7.05 million bales produced in fiscal year 2025 to 26.
This means Pakistan will need a substantial recovery in cotton production to achieve the new target, despite the improvement in arrivals recorded so far.
The latest arrivals remain well below the level recorded in August 2023, when factories had received around 2.12 million bales. Arrivals stood at approximately 1.08 million bales in August 2024 and 888,000 bales in August 2025.
