Xiaomi has opened pre-orders in China for the Mijia Smart Gas Stove 3 Max, its first stove built around AI-powered safety features rather than focusing only on cooking performance.
The stove is available through JD.com for approximately $400.
AI-Powered Safety Features
The stove uses AI for two main safety systems: dry-burn protection and off-stove detection.
The right burner includes a pressure-sensitive titanium-alloy probe capable of handling temperatures of up to 500°C. It stays in contact with the bottom of a pot and continuously monitors its temperature.
An AI temperature algorithm analyzes the readings to detect situations such as an empty or dry pot. If a potential problem is detected, the stove automatically cuts the gas supply and extinguishes the flame.
Users can also receive warnings through the Xiaomi Home app if they are away from the kitchen.
The second system uses radar to monitor an area extending up to 0.9 meters in front of the stove.
If the user remains away for 30 minutes, the stove sounds a reminder. After 60 minutes, it automatically shuts off the gas and sends a notification through the app.
5,200W Burners and Built-In Timers
Both burners deliver up to 5,200W of power.
They use a dual-channel oxygen-supply system with 154 flame holes designed to distribute heat more evenly across cookware.
The burners also feature forged brass caps designed to withstand high temperatures without easily deforming.
Each burner has an independent timer that can be set between 1 and 180 minutes, allowing users to leave dishes such as soups or braised meals cooking for a defined period.
The right burner can also display the pot’s temperature in real time at the press of a button, which may be useful for frying and stir-frying.
Improved Efficiency and Cooling
Xiaomi has added a three-layer air chamber to the stove rack.
The company claims the system can reduce temperatures around the cooktop by as much as 22°C, helping limit heat buildup during longer cooking sessions.
The stove has a 75% thermal efficiency rating and meets China’s latest first-tier energy efficiency standard.
Xiaomi says this represents a 12% improvement over the previous model and could save a typical household around $137 in gas costs over eight years.
Easier Cleaning and Installation
The glass cooktop uses a lotus-leaf-inspired nano coating designed to repel oil and water.
Xiaomi has also included an adjustable chassis that supports countertop openings between 630 and 710mm wide and 330 to 400mm deep.
This is intended to make replacing an existing stove easier without requiring additional cutting in many kitchens.
