The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad has highlighted growing opportunities to expand agricultural technology cooperation with Pakistan, encouraging American businesses to explore investment and export prospects in the country’s agriculture sector.

During a webinar organized by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Government of Pakistan, Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker said American agricultural technologies could support Pakistan’s efforts to modernize farming while creating commercial opportunities for businesses in both countries.

Baker noted that agriculture contributes nearly one quarter of Pakistan’s gross domestic product and supports millions of livelihoods.

She said American companies could contribute expertise in precision agriculture equipment, advanced irrigation systems, digital farm management, and cold chain logistics to help improve productivity and resource efficiency.

The U.S. Mission said bilateral agricultural trade remains strong, with U.S. exports of agricultural and related products to Pakistan exceeding $1.5 billion in 2025.

During the webinar, Pakistani participants highlighted regulatory and policy changes aimed at facilitating greater imports of U.S. agricultural products, including soybeans, cotton, and planting seeds, while encouraging investment in farm mechanization, controlled atmosphere storage, food processing, seed development, and biotechnology.

The event also previewed the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Certified Agricultural Technologies Trade Mission to Pakistan, scheduled for Oct. 26 to Oct. 30, 2026. Baker invited American companies to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s agricultural technology and food processing sectors and reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to supporting U.S. businesses seeking to expand their presence in the country.
