Private schools have taken a clear lead in producing Punjab’s Matric board toppers in the Secondary School Certificate First Annual Examination 2026.

A comparison of the overall position holders announced by Punjab’s nine education boards shows that 11 students secured the highest positions, including joint toppers in Gujranwala and Sahiwal.

Of these students, eight belonged to private schools, while only three studied at government institutions.

Private schools, therefore, produced approximately 72.73 percent of Punjab’s overall board toppers. Government schools accounted for the remaining 27.27 percent.

Private Schools Secure the Majority

Private institutions exclusively produced the overall toppers of Lahore, D.G. Khan, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala boards.

Lahore Board topper Amina Mahboob recorded the highest score among the listed students after securing 1,192 out of 1,200 marks.

Three students obtained 1,191 marks. They included D.G. Khan Board topper Abdullah Saleem, Faisalabad Board topper Umna Salahuddin, and Rawalpindi Board topper Muhammad Manan Ahtsham.

Multan Board topper Mehreen Rasool secured 1,190 marks.

Gujranwala Board had two joint overall toppers. Adeena Rashid of Future Vision Secondary School for Girls and Sadiqa Almas of A+ School System for Girls both obtained 1,190 marks.

The result means private schools produced at least one overall topper in seven of Punjab’s nine boards.

Government Schools Also Deliver Top Results

Government institutions secured the overall top positions in Sargodha and Bahawalpur.

Nabeel Ahmad Kazmi of Government High School 47/TDA in Bhakkar topped the Sargodha Board after obtaining 1,188 marks.

Abdul Haseeb of Government Abbasia Higher Secondary School emerged as the Bahawalpur Board topper with 1,186 marks.

Sahiwal was the only board where the overall first position was shared by students from private and government institutions.

Munsaf Bashir of Government Higher Secondary School 168/9-L, Sahiwal, and Abdullah Nasir of New Beacon House High School, Arifwala, both secured 1,191 marks.
