Tesla Finally Revealing Second-Gen Roadster After Nine Years
Tesla appears ready to finally unveil the long-delayed second-generation Roadster, nearly nine years after the electric sports car was first announced.
In a post on X, Tesla wrote “Go for launch” alongside an image showing the date 10.01, strongly pointing to an October 1 reveal.
SpaceX Thrusters Could Be Part of the Reveal
The teaser graphic also appears to reference the optional cold-gas thrusters Tesla has previously discussed for the Roadster.
The system is being developed with technology from SpaceX and is expected to provide extreme acceleration and potentially allow the vehicle to briefly lift off the ground in some form.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has repeatedly described the next Roadster as something that will go far beyond a conventional sports car.

First Announced in 2017
Tesla originally unveiled the second-generation Roadster in November 2017, promising extraordinary acceleration and range.
The vehicle has since been delayed multiple times.
Some customers have been waiting for years after placing large reservation deposits, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who publicly complained about the lengthy delay before eventually receiving a refund.
Original Design Reportedly Abandoned
More recent reports suggest Tesla may have completely abandoned the Roadster design first shown in 2017.
The company is reportedly preparing a significantly different vehicle, potentially explaining why development has taken so long.
That means the Roadster shown on October 1 could look very different from the red prototype Tesla originally revealed nearly nine years ago.
Production is Still Some Time Away
Even after the October reveal, buyers should not expect deliveries immediately.
Musk has previously said production could begin around 12 to 18 months after the final unveiling.
That would put actual production well into 2027 or even 2028 if Tesla maintains that timeline.
