Suzuki Launches Made-in-Pakistan Alto and Every in One of the Wealthiest Countries in the World
Suzuki has launched the Pakistan-made Alto and Every in Brunei, marking the first time the Japanese automaker has exported mini-vehicle models from an overseas production base with the same body size and engine displacement specifications as its kei cars in Japan.
The two vehicles are produced by Pak Suzuki Motor Company and will be sold in Brunei through Boustead Sdn. Bhd., Suzuki’s local distributor.
Boustead announced the launch on August 27 during an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of its appointment as a Suzuki distributor.
The ceremony was held at the Airport Mall Atrium in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei.
Pakistan-Made Alto and Every Join Suzuki Brunei Lineup
The introduction of the Alto and Every expands Suzuki’s passenger vehicle range in Brunei.
Both models follow the compact dimensions and engine displacement specifications associated with Japanese mini-vehicles.
Suzuki said this is the first time it has exported vehicles with these specifications from one of its production bases outside Japan.
Pak Suzuki will manufacture the vehicles in Pakistan before exporting them to Brunei.
Suzuki Motorcycles Also Coming to Brunei
Boustead also announced plans to begin selling Suzuki motorcycles in Brunei.
Motorcycle sales are expected to start around autumn 2026.
Suzuki plans to introduce several of its larger motorcycles aimed mainly at touring and recreational riders.
The planned lineup includes the Hayabusa, GSX-S1000GX and GSX-8R.
Senior Officials Attend Launch Ceremony
Around 120 people attended the anniversary and launch event.
The guests included Yutaka Kikuta, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei, and Lim Jin Lee, Executive Manager of Boustead.
Suzuki was represented by Masafumi Harano, Managing Officer and Executive General Manager for Automobile Marketing in Asia, Latin America and Oceania.
Takashi Ise, Managing Officer and Executive General Manager of Motorcycle Operations, also attended.
Representatives from distributors and business partners were present as well.
Brunei Has High Vehicle Ownership
Brunei has a high rate of vehicle ownership per person, while cars remain an important part of daily life.
Residents widely use private vehicles for commuting to work, travelling to school and other routine transportation needs.
Boustead already imports and sells several Suzuki models in the country.
Its current lineup focuses mainly on compact and easy-to-drive vehicles, particularly SUVs.
These include the Jimny 3-Door, Jimny 5-Door, Ertiga and Fronx.
