Samsung appears to be preparing a new pair of premium over-ear wireless headphones under its Galaxy brand, potentially giving the company a direct competitor to Apple’s AirPods Max and Sony’s WH-1000XM series.
These headphones could mark Samsung’s return to the market after over a decade.
References discovered by SamMobile inside Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app point to headphones carrying the internal name Galaxy H1. The app also contains connection-status icons depicting an over-ear wireless design.
Galaxy H1 Appears in Samsung’s Own App
The leaked icons show headphones in white, gray, and black, with gray or green ear cushions appearing in different graphics.
Their overall design includes a wide headband and relatively large ear cups. However, these icons may only be placeholders or representations used inside the app, so they should not be treated as confirmation of the final retail design.
Samsung Galaxy H1 is also believed to be an internal codename rather than the final product name. Current reporting points toward an early or spring 2027 launch, although Samsung has not officially announced the headphones or confirmed a release schedule.
Features Are Still Mostly Unknown
Concrete hardware specifications remain scarce.
Features such as active noise cancellation, ambient sound, Bluetooth connectivity, AI assistant integration, and automatic switching between Galaxy devices would be logical additions for a premium Samsung headset, but these features have not yet been confirmed for Galaxy H1.
Samsung could also bring its Samsung Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality (SSC UHQ) technology to the headphones. The codec is designed to deliver high-resolution audio with compatible Galaxy devices, although its inclusion in the upcoming headphones remains an expectation rather than a confirmed specification.
Not Samsung’s First Headphones
While Galaxy H1 could become Samsung’s first modern premium over-ear product under the Galaxy brand, the company has made larger wireless headphones before.
Samsung introduced the Level On Wireless Pro in 2015. The model featured active noise cancellation and Samsung’s Ultra High Quality Audio technology, but it belonged to the older Level audio lineup rather than today’s Galaxy ecosystem.
The new Galaxy headphones would therefore represent Samsung’s return to this category after more than a decade, this time with deeper integration into its current Galaxy devices and services.
