Xiaomi has launched the global versions of the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 5G, completing the standard models in its new Redmi Note 17 family.
The two phones are nearly identical, with the biggest differences coming down to their processors and mobile network support.
Design and Display
Both phones feature a large 6.99-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
The screens are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and include an optical fingerprint sensor underneath.
Both phones also carry an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.
The larger screens and batteries have increased their weight considerably compared with their predecessors. The Redmi Note 17 weighs 224g, while the Note 17 5G is slightly heavier at 225g.
Both are available in Celestial Purple, Sky Teal and Black.
Internals and Software
The 4G Redmi Note 17 is powered by the 6nm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2, with CPU speeds reaching up to 2.9GHz.
It comes with 4GB, 6GB or 8GB RAM and is available with either 128GB or 256GB of storage.
The Redmi Note 17 5G uses the newer 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, featuring an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 2.3GHz. It comes with either 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage.
Both phones support microSD storage expansion.
They run Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and will receive six years of security updates.
Cameras
Camera hardware is identical on both models.
The Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 5G feature a 50MP main rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture.
Both phones also have a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
Battery and Pricing
Xiaomi has equipped both models with massive 7,700mAh silicon-carbon batteries, considerably larger than the batteries used by their predecessors.
Both support 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing them to provide power to accessories and other compatible devices.
The Redmi Note 17 comes in five configurations: 4GB + 128GB, 4GB + 256GB, 6GB + 128GB, 6GB + 256GB and 8GB + 256GB. Prices start at $250.
The Redmi Note 17 5G is available in 6GB + 128GB, 6GB + 256GB and 8GB + 256GB versions, with prices starting at $300.
