City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has launched a strict crackdown against underage and unlicensed drivers across the district on the directives of Punjab DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir.
Under the new enforcement measures, police will issue traffic challans to drivers found operating motorcycles or vehicles without valid licenses or driving while underage. Their motorcycles or vehicles will also be impounded and taken to the relevant police station.
Police officials said motorcycles seized from juvenile riders will only be released after the production of the juvenile’s permit. The traffic police will also facilitate motorcycle riders in obtaining driving licenses during traffic hold-ups, particularly outside licensing offices.
CTO Farhan Aslam said a learner’s permit does not authorize a person to drive a motorcycle or vehicle on public roads. He stressed that driving without a valid license or driving while underage violates the law.
He said underage drivers often lack the ability to make quick and mature decisions, increasing the risk of serious road accidents. He added that strict enforcement would help prevent accidents and improve road safety.
The CTO urged citizens to obtain valid driving licenses from the nearest licensing center and asked parents to prevent underage children from driving motorcycles or cars.
