Punjab University Responds to Toll Tax at Entry Points
The Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA) at the University of the Punjab has clarified that university students do not have to pay parking or toll entry charges at the university’s entry points.
In a clarification issued through its official social media account, the DSA said the university had already issued multiple notifications regarding the exemption.
The directorate said students must identify themselves as university students and present a valid Student Identification Card when entering the university. It added that toll collectors cannot reliably determine whether an individual qualifies for the exemption without proper identification.
The DSA advised students to avoid arguments or confrontations with contractors or toll collectors and simply present their valid Student Identification Cards.
The directorate also asked students to immediately report any incident in which a contractor or toll collector charges them despite proper identification. Students can report such incidents through email at info.dsa@pu.edu.pk or contact the Security Control Room/WhatsApp at +92 301 4435741.
The DSA said students should provide relevant details of any incident so the matter can be verified. It further warned that if authorities establish that a contractor charged a properly identified student, the contractor will face a heavy fine from the Office of Resident Officer-I.
The Directorate of Student Affairs urged students to cooperate, carry their Student Identification Cards and report any violations through the designated channels.
