The Punjab Health Department has decided to introduce a merit-based system for house jobs and postgraduate training for foreign medical graduates to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process.
A nine-member committee comprising vice-chancellors of medical universities and principals of medical colleges across Punjab has been formed to review the existing procedures and recommend improvements.
The committee will examine the verification process for medical degrees, registrations, licenses, and eligibility requirements to ensure a consistent approach to selecting candidates.
It will also identify administrative and legal gaps in the current process and propose a centralized system for applications, document verification, merit assessment, and placement.
The committee has been directed to submit its recommendations within 10 days.
