PMDC Finally Listens to Biggest Demand of MDCAT Applicants

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has asked the Sindh government to conduct an independent and transparent inquiry into alleged MDCAT irregularities, following complaints from applicants and concerns raised by lawmakers.

In a letter to Sindh’s health minister, the council requested an investigation into allegations surrounding the Medical and Dental College Admission Test. The provincial government has been asked to complete the inquiry and submit its findings within two weeks.

The move follows social media complaints alleging that the examination’s question paper had been leaked. The allegations have raised questions about the credibility and transparency of the test, which determines eligibility for admission to medical and dental colleges across Pakistan.

The chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Health had also expressed serious concern over the alleged leak and urged PMDC to ensure a transparent investigation.

Separately, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal took notice of the complaints last week and asked the council to provide a report within 15 days.

The alleged paper leak has not been established as fact. The inquiry is intended to examine the complaints and determine whether irregularities occurred.

The announcement concerns an investigation; no decision to cancel or reconduct the examination has been announced in the information provided.
