The Punjab government has announced plans to introduce new laws for housing societies across the province, including Lahore.
Under the proposed rules, housing schemes will have to provide access to digital revenue records. The approval and no-objection certificate process for private housing schemes will also be digitised.
The government will also monitor the registration of property dealers and advertisements related to housing schemes under the new system.
To improve transparency, Punjab plans to introduce third-party verification of development costs in housing projects. Authorities will also develop a procedure to regularise illegal housing schemes.
Officials said strict action will be taken against anyone violating the new laws.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Central Business District Authority has denied the existence of any illegal housing scheme.
