Punjab has ordered a strict crackdown on drivers using illegal flasher and HID lights, with more than 17,000 challans already issued across the province this year.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir has directed traffic officials to intensify action against prohibited and excessively bright vehicle lights to reduce road accidents.

According to a traffic police spokesperson, accident analysis has identified flasher and HID lights as a major road safety concern. High-beam and HID lights can impair the visibility of drivers approaching from the opposite direction, increasing the risk of accidents.

Traffic police are already taking action against substandard and high-intensity lights across Punjab. More than 17,000 challan tickets have been issued this year for the use of prohibited lights.

In Lahore alone, traffic police have fined more than 5,000 drivers for using flasher and HID lights.

DIG Waqas Nazir said the use of flasher and HID lights is prohibited on all vehicles and directed officials to ensure strict enforcement against illegal and excessively bright lights to make roads safer for citizens.
