A proposal to revise the registration period and fee structure for private schools is under consideration, with schools potentially receiving four-year registrations and paying fees based on their monthly tuition charges.
Under the proposed structure, schools charging Rs. 1,500 per month would pay a registration fee of Rs. 10,000, while those charging up to Rs. 2,500 would pay Rs. 20,000.
Schools with monthly fees of up to Rs. 5,000 would pay Rs. 50,000 for registration, while schools charging Rs. 10,000 per month would pay Rs. 100,000. The proposed fee would rise to Rs. 200,000 for schools charging Rs. 20,000 per month. Schools with monthly fees above Rs. 20,000 would pay a registration fee of Rs. 1 million.
Schools would receive registration for four years after paying the prescribed fee. Upon renewal and issuance of a new license, they would pay 50 percent of the applicable registration fee.
A separate proposal seeking approval for new rules and regulations governing private school registration is also under consideration by the Cabinet Committee. The revised registration procedures and fee structure would take effect after approval from the competent authority.
