The Punjab Home Department has approved a new amendment to its agreement with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), paving the way for citizens to obtain verifiable digital credentials for their arms licenses.
According to official documents, the agreement between the Punjab Home Department and NADRA has been extended until December 31, 2026. Its validity now covers the period from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2026.
The revised agreement does not include the single sign-on authentication provision, while the shared login clause has also been removed due to technical and security concerns.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) had recommended removing the single sign-on provision from the amended draft. The revised agreement was later approved after the completion of its legal review.
Under the new arrangement, citizens will be able to obtain their digital arms licenses instantly through the Pak ID Wallet. Verifiable digital credentials linked to Punjab arms licenses will be issued through the system.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at making arms license verification easier, faster, and more secure. The digital credentials will also make it easier for license holders to verify and prove the status of their licenses when required.
