Private Schools Plan Early Academic Session Ahead of Ramadan

Private schools across Punjab are preparing to advance their academic calendars ahead of Ramadan, which is expected to affect school hours and make it harder for teachers to complete the syllabus on time.

Sources said most private schools plan to begin the new academic session on December 1 instead of following the usual schedule. Schools will also hold their final-term examinations in November rather than December to accommodate the earlier start.

School owners said reduced working hours during Ramadan could limit teaching time and make it difficult to cover the full curriculum. They believe starting the academic year earlier will give teachers more time to complete the syllabus before the holy month.

The decision could also benefit private publishers, who will get an opportunity to sell existing textbooks before schools switch to revised syllabuses for the new academic year. Sources said publishers could earn millions of rupees by selling their remaining stocks before the new editions reach the market.

According to sources, schools will replace the existing textbooks under the revised syllabuses, while publishers expect the new books to become available in March or April.
