Students from private institutions recorded a pass percentage of 68.87%, compared with 36.45% for government schools. This gave private schools a lead of 32.42 percentage points.

Government schools produced more successful candidates because they had over twice as many students. However, private institutions performed considerably better based on the percentage of candidates who passed.
Nearly seven out of every 10 private-school students passed the examination. The corresponding figure for government schools was fewer than four out of 10.

BISE Sahiwal covers Sahiwal, Okara and Pakpattan districts. Private institutions recorded a higher pass percentage in every district.

The widest government-private performance gap was recorded in Okara, where the difference reached 35.30 percentage points.

Private-school girls recorded the strongest result among the main categories, achieving a pass rate of 75.47%.
Private-school boys posted a pass percentage of 61.03%. Although this was lower than the rate among private-school girls, it remained substantially higher than the results of government-school boys and girls.
Sahiwal Board’s Overall Result
A total of 89,872 candidates applied for the 9th Class First Annual Examination 2026. Of these, 87,093 appeared and 37,803 passed.
The overall BISE Sahiwal pass percentage stood at 43.41%.

What the Comparison Shows
The official figures indicate that private institutions dominated the result in terms of pass percentage. They led government schools across all three districts and among both boys and girls.
However, the gazette does not explain the reasons behind the difference. Student intake, attendance, school resources, location and the number of candidates enrolled may affect institutional results.
The figures should therefore be viewed as an examination-performance comparison rather than a complete measure of education quality.
