The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has approved a threefold increase in MBBS seats at Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) Mardan, raising the total from 50 to 150.
The council issued an official notification approving the seat enhancement after conducting an inspection of the medical college on August 27 and 28, 2026. The revised intake will apply from the 2026-27 academic session.
The PM&DC Deputy Registrar (Inspection) formally communicated the decision to the Dean of BKMC.
The increase will create additional opportunities for students from Mardan and surrounding areas to pursue medical education. It also marks a significant expansion in the college’s capacity to train future medical professionals.
BKMC Dean Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmad congratulated the faculty, administration and supporting staff for their efforts in completing the PM&DC inspection and securing the increased intake. He thanked the directors, associate deans, managers, chairpersons, faculty members and staff for their dedication, teamwork and cooperation in achieving the milestone.
Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmad said the increase reflects BKMC’s commitment to maintaining high standards in medical education. He added that the expanded intake would allow more deserving students to pursue their goal of becoming medical professionals.
