PM Shehbaz Convenes Cabinet Meeting on Fuel Margins, Economy, Security
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a federal cabinet meeting to consider a proposed Rs. 1.34 per liter increase in fuel dealer margins, along with the country’s economic situation, security and regional developments.
The cabinet meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the Prime Minister’s House, according to sources. The Cabinet Division has notified members regarding the meeting.
The proposed increase in dealer margins for petrol and diesel follows a decision by the Economic Coordination Committee at its August 14 meeting. The ECC’s decision will be placed before the federal cabinet for formal ratification.
If approved, the dealer margin will increase by Rs. 1.34 per liter for both petrol and diesel, potentially adding to the cost structure of petroleum products for consumers. The cabinet will also review the country’s overall economic situation, national security and internal law and order during the meeting.
Members are expected to discuss recent geopolitical developments and regional affairs, while decisions taken by various cabinet committees in recent meetings will also be presented for formal approval.
