PM Chromebook Scheme Eligibility Criteria Announced

The federal government plans to distribute 500,000 refurbished Chromebooks to high-performing Grade 9 students across Pakistan under the Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme.

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and the Prime Minister’s Youth Program are running the scheme, while the TT Care Foundation has committed to supplying the devices under a letter of understanding.

Students must score at least 50% in their latest SSC-I examinations. The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) will verify results, and authorities will select recipients on merit within each province or region, examination board and academic stream.

Students at public schools, private schools supported by provincial education foundations and registered madaris can apply.

Punjab will receive 181,090 devices, followed by Sindh with 85,925, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 51,170 and Balochistan with 31,815. Islamabad has been allocated 100,000 Chromebooks, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will each receive 25,000.

Of the devices allocated to each region, 80% will go to school students and 20% to madaris students. School students will receive allocations based on their academic stream, with 70% reserved for science and 30% for arts.

Authorities will verify students’ results, enrollment and school affiliation before delivering the devices by courier. The scheme will also include a monitoring system to track deliveries and grievance committees to address complaints about selection, verification or non-delivery.
