PCB Finds New Fast Bowler Who Can Bowl at a Speed of More Than 150 Km/h
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has identified another exciting fast-bowling prospect who can bowl at speeds of more than 150 km/h.
Young pacer Qayyum Khan has impressed officials with his raw pace and is currently training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
Qayyum, who hails from Jhang, came through the Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Program. He later represented Sports Board Punjab in the President’s Trophy Grade-II Silver competition.
Aaqib Javed Calls Qayyum a New Talent
PCB Director High Performance Aaqib Javed has highlighted Qayyum as one of Pakistan’s most promising emerging fast bowlers.
According to Aaqib, Qayyum can consistently reach around 150 km/h and even go beyond that mark.
The PCB is now working on his development through specialised training. The board hopes to prepare him for higher-level cricket in the coming seasons.
PCB Holds Special Fast-Bowling Camp in Lahore
Qayyum is among 12 fast bowlers called to the NCA for a five-day development camp running from August 24 to 28.
The group includes both international players and emerging pacers. Seven of the 12 fast bowlers are uncapped.
The players are working on technical and tactical aspects of fast bowling while coaches also review their recent performances.
Pakistan’s white-ball fast-bowling coach Ashley Noffke is also involved in the specialised training program.
PCB Wants More 150 Km/h Fast Bowlers
Qayyum is not the only express pacer being developed by the PCB.
Young bowlers including Ali Raza, Razaullah, Abdul Subhan and Abuzar have also shown the ability to reach speeds above 145 km/h.
Aaqib Javed said the PCB wants to develop three to four fast bowlers capable of approaching the 150 km/h mark as Pakistan looks to strengthen its pace resources.
Pakistan has historically produced some of cricket’s fastest bowlers. The latest development program suggests the PCB is now making a focused effort to find the next generation of genuine express pacers.
For Qayyum, the NCA camp could provide an important pathway toward domestic cricket and, eventually, consideration for the Pakistan national team.
