The government plans to establish a pilot Law Enforcement Investigation Centre in Islamabad based on China’s policing model as part of efforts to modernize Pakistan’s law enforcement system, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Thursday.
Speaking at a meeting with Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) who recently completed specialized training in China and Türkiye, Naqvi said overseas training programs would become a permanent part of the professional development of Pakistani police officers.
The minister said the proposed Law Enforcement Investigation Centre will bring detention, investigation, and summary trial procedures under one roof to speed up the disposal of minor offense cases and improve the efficiency of the criminal justice system.
The initiative is part of a wider reform program that includes expanding the use of modern surveillance technologies and crime prevention tools.
Under the plan, the Ministry of Interior’s Aviation Wing will be equipped with advanced drones to strengthen aerial surveillance during field operations.
The government also plans to establish specialized investigation rooms at the National Police Academy and update the training curriculum to include modern investigation techniques based on international best practices.
Naqvi said a redesigned police uniform tailored for operational requirements will also be introduced.
