Pakistan received no bids for a tender seeking one liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo for delivery from Sept. 12 to 16, sources told ProPakistani.
The tender was Pakistan’s third attempt to secure an LNG cargo for September. PLL had invited international suppliers to submit bids by Sept. 8, but received no offer.
The government had already canceled two LNG cargo tenders for September after rejecting the bids as too expensive.
The latest failed tender comes as Pakistan continues to face difficulty securing LNG after repeated disruptions to Qatari supplies. Earlier this month, the government rejected two bids for September cargoes after suppliers quoted prices of about $26.97 and $26.71 per MMBtu.
Meanwhile, LNG shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains severely disrupted, keeping regional supply tight and spot prices elevated.
Separately, a Qatari LNG cargo has crossed the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since July and is heading to Pakistan’s Port Qasim, with the vessel, Al Marrouna, expected to arrive as early as Sept. 10.
