Nine Arrested for Posing as Italian Embassy Representatives

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested nine members of an alleged fraud gang, including its ringleader, for posing as representatives of the Italian Embassy and defrauding a citizen of Rs. 4.5 million on the pretext of sending him to Italy.

According to the FIA, the suspects were arrested in Rawalpindi following a complaint filed by the Italian Embassy with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

The suspects allegedly impersonated representatives of the Italian Embassy and took Rs. 4.5 million from a citizen by promising to facilitate his travel to Italy.

The FIA said a case has been registered against the arrested suspects and further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud and identify any other individuals involved.
