LPG Prices Fall After New Shipment Arrives
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices have fallen by Rs. 20 to Rs. 30 per kilogram in some parts of Hyderabad within a single day, offering some relief to consumers amid persistently high retail rates.
Retailers who previously sold LPG for around Rs. 550 per kilogram have lowered prices to between Rs. 520 and Rs. 530, according to reports from different areas of the city.
Shopkeepers attributed the decline to an LPG shipment arriving at the port. They said distributors had been supplying LPG from plants at Rs. 520 per kilogram before reducing the rate to Rs. 490 on Monday, prompting retailers to cut their prices.
However, the current retail rates remain significantly higher than the official price set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The regulator fixed the LPG price for domestic consumers at Rs. 279.34 per kilogram for the current month.
Despite the recent reduction, consumers and rickshaw drivers continue to struggle with high LPG costs. Many are limiting their consumption because retail prices remain unaffordable.
