KP Establishes Pakistan’s First AI and Digital Institute

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Elementary and Secondary Education Department has established Pakistan’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Institute to support the use of modern technology in the province’s education sector.

The institute will focus on promoting AI-based solutions and accelerating the digital transformation of the department.

A seven-member team has been formed to develop technical frameworks and guidelines for the initiative. It will also review existing systems and recommend measures to reduce manual procedures across the department.

As part of its mandate, the institute will work on developing modern digital applications aimed at improving transparency and service delivery in the education sector.

The move is part of the KP government’s broader push to expand the use of AI and digital technology in education.

Earlier this year, the provincial government also moved toward establishing an AI Education Authority to support AI-based teaching systems and other education reforms.
