Pakistan’s IT and IT-enabled services export receipts grew 17 percent year-on-year to $811 million during the first two months of fiscal year 2026-27, up from $691 million in the same period last year.
However, monthly export receipts fell 6 percent in August to $394 million from $417 million in July, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Industry stakeholders said the monthly decline could be temporary, with export receipts still expected to remain within the $400 million to $450 million range in the coming months.
Former Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan said the industry needs to focus on areas where Pakistan has stronger potential, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, automation and enterprise solutions.
He also highlighted gaps in human capital, payment systems and access to international markets that need to be addressed to sustain export growth.
Khan said the government and IT exporters should continue expanding marketing efforts and exploring new international markets to increase the sector’s export base.
