Final Wildwood trailer will leave you in awe of LAIKAs stop-motion fantasy
Every trailer for Wildwood has been a feast for the eyes, and the final peek is no different.
The upcoming fantasy adventure comes to us courtesy of LAIKA, the stop-motion studio behind films like Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings, and is based on the novel of the same name by the Decemberists’ frontman Colin Meloy.
Wildwood whisks viewers away to the mystical land of Portland, Oregon, where an even more mystical land lurks just beyond its borders. That land is the Impassable Wilderness, an enchanted forest that’s home to talking animals, roving bandits, and the mysterious and powerful Alexandra (voiced by Carey Mulligan).
When a magical murder of crows whisks baby Mac off to the Impassable Wilderness, his teenage sister Prue McKeel (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) vows to save him. Along with her classmate Curtis Mehlberg (Jacob Tremblay), she plunges headfirst into a world of ancient magic.
LAIKA’s stop-motion animators bring that magic to stunning life in the trailer, from epic battles to a chase sequence between crows and the General (Viola Davis), a massive golden eagle. Witness all that craftsmanship and more in the trailer above.
