Islamabad’s Park Road Underpass Construction Update
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has installed directional boards at the under-construction Park Road underpass in Islamabad, indicating how traffic will move once the facility becomes operational.
The underpass, being developed near Margalla Enclave, will also provide a route for motorists travelling toward Rawal Chowk. Loops are also being constructed on both sides of the underpass to facilitate residents travelling to and from DHA Margalla Enclave.
The latest developments provide some indication of the planned traffic movement, but the CDA has yet to announce a new firm completion date for the project.
The authority had previously announced July 30, 2026, as the deadline for completing and opening the underpass. However, work continued beyond the deadline, adding to the disruption already faced by commuters using Park Road.
The construction has resulted in traffic congestion and diversions, particularly during busy hours. Motorists have also reported difficulties caused by limited road space around the construction site.
The underpass is expected to improve connectivity between Park Road and DHA Margalla Enclave and ease traffic movement toward Rawal Chowk once completed.
For now, however, commuters remain without a clear timeline for when the project will finally open to traffic.
