A new cyber fraud scheme involving fake traffic e-challan messages has emerged in Islamabad, with scammers using fraudulent SMS messages to trick citizens into sharing their personal and financial information.
According to Islamabad Traffic Police, fraudsters are sending fake e-challan messages containing suspicious links and asking recipients to pay their alleged traffic fines through these links.
The police have advised citizens not to click on unverified e-challan links and to confirm the authenticity of any traffic fine before making a payment.
Citizens have been instructed to verify their e-challan details only through the official Islamabad Police website and avoid making payments through links received in suspicious or unsolicited messages.
Islamabad Traffic Police also warned citizens against sharing personal, banking or other financial information through such messages.
The police urged citizens to remain vigilant and verify all traffic fines before making any payment to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud.
