Google Chrome on Android Gets Agentic Browsing, Image Generation, and More

Google is rolling out Gemini in Chrome to all Android users in the United States, bringing deeper AI features directly into the mobile browser.

According to Google, the wider release adds full multimodal Gemini integration to Chrome. Along with page summaries, users can access image generation and a new agentic browsing feature that can complete multi-step web tasks.

Gemini Features in Chrome

Users can open Gemini by tapping the Gemini sparkle icon in Chrome’s top bar or through the three-dot menu.

Gemini can summarize long web pages, research papers, articles, and recipe blogs into shorter points. Users can also ask follow-up questions about the content on the page without reading through everything manually.

The assistant can connect directly with Google Workspace apps such as Google Calendar and Google Keep. For example, users viewing an event schedule or flight confirmation can ask Gemini to add the information to their calendar or save notes without switching apps.

Gemini also supports image generation inside Chrome through Nano Banana, allowing users to create and customize images while browsing.

Auto Browse Can Handle Multi-Step Tasks

The biggest addition is Auto Browse, an agentic AI feature currently rolling out to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers on Android in the United States.

Unlike standard AI tools that only summarize or answer questions, Auto Browse can navigate websites and complete multi-step tasks on a user’s behalf.

Google says the feature can find and book parking for concerts or sporting events, update recurring online orders or subscription deliveries, and research, organize, and book travel arrangements.

Google Adds Protection Against Prompt Injection

Allowing an AI assistant to interact with websites also creates security risks. Malicious sites could attempt to hide instructions designed to trick the AI into sharing personal information or carrying out unauthorized actions, a technique known as prompt injection.

Google says its agentic browsing system has been designed with security protections against these attacks. Its models are trained to identify and block prompt injection attempts before they can be carried out.

Auto Browse also includes confirmation checkpoints. The system pauses before completing sensitive actions and asks the user to approve them, giving users final control over transactions and personal information.

How to Check for Gemini in Chrome

The feature is currently rolling out to Android users across the United States.

Users can open Chrome on an Android phone or tablet and look for the Gemini sparkle icon in the address bar. If it is not visible, they can open the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and check for Gemini options.

Users should also make sure Chrome is updated to the latest version through the Google Play Store, as the feature is being enabled through a server-side rollout.
