FBR Seals Illegal Cigarette Factory in Karachi

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sealed an illegal cigarette manufacturing facility in Karachi and confiscated cigarette-making machinery, raw materials and finished cigarettes worth millions of rupees.

The operation was conducted by the Inland Revenue Enforcement Squad (IREN) of Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) Karachi following confidential information about the illegal factory.

FBR officials dismantled the cigarette-making machinery and took it into government custody. Large quantities of raw materials and finished cigarettes were also seized and shifted to RTO-II Karachi.

An FIR has been registered before the Court of the Special Judge (Customs & Taxation), Karachi, while criminal investigations and further legal proceedings have been initiated against those allegedly involved.

The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Baqir Ali and coordinated by Commissioner Inland Revenue Dr. Aslam Marri. Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Zafar Rafiq Siddiqui supervised the action.
