FBR Orders Officers to Reveal Foreign Citizenships, Passports and Marriages
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ordered its officers and employees to disclose details of any foreign citizenship, passports, travel documents and marriages to foreign nationals.
FBR has issued a final reminder after the 90-day deadline for submitting the declarations expired on August 30. Officials who have not yet submitted the required information have been directed to do so immediately.
FBR said all officers must also report any foreign passport or other travel document in their possession. Those who are married to foreign nationals are required to provide details of the marriage as well.
The completed forms are to be sent by email to the relevant Management Wing secretaries.
FBR has warned that failing to submit the declaration or providing false information could lead to disciplinary action.
Non-compliance may be treated as misconduct under the applicable civil service rules, while false declarations can trigger proceedings under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.
The tax authority has directed all concerned officials to ensure compliance with the instructions.
The directive applies to officers and personnel of both Customs and Inland Revenue. They have been asked to submit a prescribed declaration covering their own foreign citizenship as well as that of their family members.
