The Punjab government has approved the establishment of the first 100-bed cancer treatment tower at Holy Family Hospital (HFH) for patients across Rawalpindi Division.
Following approval from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the relevant departments have started preparing the PC-I for the project.
According to reports, the decision was discussed during a video-link meeting chaired by the Punjab health secretary on the chief minister’s directives. Representatives from the Health Department, Communication and Works Department, and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
Officials were informed that similar cancer treatment towers would also be established at government hospitals in Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Bahawalpur.
Specialist doctors and other staff will be appointed, while the required medical equipment will be procured before construction is completed. This will allow treatment services to begin as soon as the towers become operational.
Meanwhile, a cryoablation machine for treating patients with breast, lung, liver, and kidney cancers has already been delivered to HFH and is currently being installed.
Once the machine completes its test run, formal registration will begin for patients seeking treatment for these four types of cancer.
