Punjab Introduces New System for Checking Exam Papers

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that the government will completely end manual exam checking next year and introduce on-screen marking across the province.
Speaking at a press conference, Hayat said the government would hold schools accountable for weak academic results and would use merit, rewards, penalties and continuous monitoring to improve the education system.
He said the government’s transparent examination system gives every student an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. He pointed to the strong performance of students from minority communities and the continued improvement in girls’ results as evidence of the benefits of eliminating cheating and interference.
Hayat said the government was also introducing SLO-based assessments and developing a new curriculum linked to artificial intelligence.
He said these reforms would give students fair credit for their hard work and make genuine learning the main measure of educational success.
